The Antibreather is a minor enemy that can be found in the Language Level of Advanced Education with Viktor Strobovski. He can also be found in Voices of the Void.

Appearance[]

The Antibreather is an entity slightly taller than Angell. He has an oddly-shaped brown head and a beige body. His legs are extremely thin and his arms appear to be scythes. On his face are two black eyes with bright white pupils, and a red mouth with sharp, white teeth. He constantly bares his teeth, even when nobody is around.

Abilities[]

  • Breathing Sense: The Antibreather seems to have some kind of "sense" that allows him to detect nearby breathing.
  • Scythe Arms: Antibreather's arms are extremely sharp blades, and he can use these blades to slit the throats of his victims effortlessly.

Behaviour[]

The Antibreather can be found about halfway through the long corridor, as well as within the labyrinth-like tunnels of the bunker.

He will wander around aimlessly, and if Angell happens to fall into his line of sight while she is breathing, he will begin to rapidly rush towards her, draining sanity when directly looked at. If he catches the protagonist, he will slit the protagonist's throat, killing her. However, if the protagonist holds her breath, or moves out of the Antibreather's line of sight, he will stop chasing her.

In Voices of the Void[]

The Antibreather plays a minor role in Voices of the Void, Featuring a new, updated 3D model. He roams around the forest at night, spawning at the cave and proceeding to wonder around the Romeo satellite and its surrounding area. He can be fed burgers to make him gallop around happily, ignoring the player. If he makes contact with the player, he will knock them around, ragdolling them. The Antibreather used to have a bug where if a map does not have pathing and the player is knocked over too close to the Antibreather, they will be knocked over continuously, forced to restart the game or go back to the menu. He also used to not have pathing in the main game, and only in its debut test map, untitled_44. If you steal the life crystal core from the cave, he will always find his way to the base every night, forcing open doors to knock you over.

The Antibreather isn't hostile to drones allowing you to get close if you can catch up to it. It spawns near the top left of the scanner at 21:30 everyday and despawns at roughly 6 AM. It runs around in random directions without a goal seemingly looking for the player in the area.

Other Appearances[]

  • If the player clicks on the door in the background of the title screen, the door will break down and hundreds of Antibreathers will storm out, flooding the entire room.
  • If the protagonist enters the admin room, the "strange" plant in the corner will sometimes be replaced by the Antibreather's top half.
  • In the History Level, the Antibreather can be seen at the end of one of the four passages leading out from the elevator shaft on the third floor. He is flat, facing outwards, constantly in walking motion, and has no collision.
  • There is an item in some untitled maps named "fuck", which appears to be Antibreather's face with anger lines drawn on it. It shoots thiccobreathers infinitely.
    • In Alpha 0.19 and newer versions, objects in the title screen can be interacted with. If the monitor is knocked off the table, the same sprite of Antibreather's head can be seen on the desk behind it.
    • The same sprite is found on the backside of a neodymium magnet, though this cannot be seen in-game.
  • Hidden behind an unopenable rotator door in the Small bunker is a lone Antibreather who patrols an inaccessible part of the bunker.

Tips[]

  • The Antibreather is much more threatening in the long corridor than in the bunker, as in the bunker there are multiple tunnels you can use to avoid him, unlike in the long corridor, where there is absolutely no space to move side to side.
  • Wearing a gas mask will make it more difficult for the Antibreather to notice you.[5]
    • Wearing a Respirator will have a similar effect.
    • spaming the breathe button makes it somewhat difficult for anti breather to notice you breathing

Trivia[]

  • Once the player gets killed by the Antibreather, they will unlock a special achievement.
  • The Antibreather's running animation is the same as Viktor's running animation in AEwVS: Christmas Curse, only with a different model.
  • The Antibreather is heavily memed in the game, with his death screen calling him "a fukin' onion". There is also an item in the test maps called "fuck", with its sprite being Antibreather's head with comical anger lines drawn on it.
