Coal is an item introduced in the AEwVS: New Year Special. It is still present in the latest versions, although it has been made completely useless. It appears to be a large lump of coal with the word "NAUGHTY" attached to it.
Spawns[]
Both versions can be found in Untitled8.
In older versions, coal could also be obtained from presents.
Usage[]
Coal comes in two varieties:
- Regular, which cannot be placed in the Artifact belt and is prone to breaking.
- Unbreakable, which can be placed in the Artifact Belt and never breaks.
The two varieties of coal have exactly the same appearance, so the only way to distinguish them is by picking them up and looking at the item name.
Coal can be thrown a fair distance, and once it hits the ground it bounces slightly.
In older versions, coal could be thrown at a door to smash it into pieces. This functionality was later removed to prevent unfair gameplay. It was also possible throw coal at a teacher to stun them for a while, which was also removed. When a piece of coal hit a character, if it's regular coal it had a chance of breaking, causing it to disappear and not be able to be used again. However, if it's unbreakable, it had no chance of breaking.
Since version 0.15.5.7, however, Coal is useless. When attempting to throw it at a door, instead of breaking the door down it will instead phase through the door. Also, if it is thrown at a teacher, a "fatal error" will occur and the game will crash.

Coal is one of the many mineral resources in UD.
Description[]
Coal is mostly carbon with variable amounts of other elements, chiefly hydrogen, sulfur, oxygen, and nitrogen. Coal is formed when dead plant matter decays into peat and is converted into coal by the heat and pressure of deep burial over millions of years.
Obtaining[]
Natural generation[]
This has a chance of being obtained after any type of rock (except moon or gem rock) is broken with a sledgehammer or other suitable tool.
Multiple pieces of coal are also found on the ground near where the furnace spawns.

Coal can also be created using a furnace.
